2017: A Year in Review

2017 was an amazing year for Benefits by Design (BBD) Inc. We expanded our business, refreshed some of our office spaces, added a few new roles, and traipsed into new territories (hello Yukon)! In this post, we’ll be outlining amazing things that happened at BBD in 2017.

The Buzz on Business

726 new groups and 4,084 groups total
We were very busy last year, partnering with amazing organizations on new products and services that help working Canadians. We’re proud to provide our Advisors and our groups access to:

We have almost 1,200 Advisors in our growing community. Coast to coast, our Advisors are getting the word about BBD out there – and our success wouldn’t be possible without each and every one of them.

Our Advisors were also very busy last year! We added 726 new groups and currently administer benefits to 4,084 groups across Canada.

Peek inside the #BBDWorkplace

We spent 2017 deepening our connections with our community.

800 tweets posted, 929 LinkedIn followers, 4,521 Instagram likes, 2,795 newsletter subscribers, 13,200 Your Workplace magazines distributed, 270 pairs of BBD socks worn.

We added new roles on the team and gave our Client Services department an exciting restructure. We even had over 12 furry employees play their part in the office on Fridays.

One of the biggest reasons employees work at BBD is because of our workplace culture. How many workplaces can honestly say they encourage employees to be the same two steps outside their door as two steps inside of it? BBD’s core values are working together, adapting to improve and innovate, and continually growing as people and as a business. We translate those into action in creative ways, like subsidies for hobbies and wellness, and vacation incentives to support work/life balance. These programs are successful because they work and recognize that one size does not fit all when it comes to motivation and rewards.

42 employees qualified for the vacation incentive this year and we had four very happy (and lucky!) winners.

Subsidy Usage

BBD offers subsidies to use towards hobby and health and wellness pursuits outside of work.

61% used their hobby subsidy and 87% used their health and wellness subsidy

Heading into 2018

Our focus for 2018 is to continue helping working Canadians. Expect to see a focus on strengthening partnerships with suppliers, Advisors, and groups, as we push boundaries and grow as an organization. This year, we’re moving “back to basics” to ensure confidence and clarity in all things group benefits.
