The benefits below can be packaged a variety of ways to make a comprehensive plan. The majority of them can also be sold on a standalone basis if an organization is just beginning to offer benefits.

Support and services to keep you and your loved ones healthy.

Extended Health Care provides a wide range of coverage designed to supplement provincial health care plans, including Drug Plans, Vision Care, and Travel.

Covered services include:

DENTAL BENEFITS

Take care of all things dental before problems occur – and if/when they do, be protected.

Benefits by Design dental care plans vary, and are quoted based on the needs of the group seeking coverage.

There are three general categories:

1. Basic Services (cleanings, fillings, extractions)
2. Major Restorative Services (dentures, crowns, bridges)
3. Orthodontic Services

LIFE INSURANCE

Life insurance provides financial assistance in the event of a covered plan member’s death. Protection is provided 24-hours a day, anywhere in the world and benefit is paid tax-free. Coverage means the people who depend on you aren’t left with added hardship after your passing.

Optional Life insurance protects plan members 24 hours a day, anywhere in the world. It’s available to plan members and their spouses for a minimum of $30,000 and a maximum of $300,000 in units of $10,000. Plan members must apply for this coverage.

Dependent Life insurance provides a Life insurance benefit for a plan member’s spouse and dependent children.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT (AD&D)

It is hard to talk about, but it happens – and it shouldn’t cost you or your family.

AD&D provides financial assistance for when tragedy strikes. Coverage is available should a plan member die as the result of an accident, loss of a limb, or loss of their sight or hearing.

Special note:
This benefit includes 24-Hour coverage, anywhere in the world and is paid tax-free. Benefits for loss of life are paid to the employee’s beneficiary named under the Life Insurance benefit. All other benefits are paid to the employee.

CRITICAL ILLNESS

Insurance you never want to need but will be so glad you have. True peace of mind.

Economic hardship can result from serious health problems. Lost income, expensive treatments, and prolonged recovery are just a few of the circumstances that arise when a critical illness is diagnosed. This insurance protects you and your family from additional hardships when your health is on the line.

A lump sum is paid to the policyholder 30 days after diagnosis of one of the 25 illnesses covered by this benefit. Employees, their spouses and dependent children can be covered for groups with 10+ participating employees.

Disability insurance

DISABILITY INSURANCE

Protection for when life happens, and work can’t.

Short-term Disability insurance provides income when a plan member is unable to work as a result of being hospitalized, in an accident, or ill up to 17 to 26 weeks. This is a guaranteed issue benefit, and it can insure company owners only if such a plan design is required.

Long-term Disability insurance provides income to plan members who become disabled and unable to perform the duties of his or her occupation. Benefits commence post 119 or 180 days.

Health Care Spending Account

HEALTH CARE SPENDING ACCOUNT (HCSA)

A health care spending account (HCSA) is a way to set the amount employers pay for benefits each year. Eligible expenses are outlined by the Canada Revenue Agency and the provider adjudicates claims. Provides flexibility for plan members to use their funds for what they need without being limited to a typical plan design *or* to use it for things their plan does not cover entirely.

Major Features:

  • Employer contributions are not subject to employment taxes (e.g. WCB, EI, CPP)
  • Employees can direct their funds based on their needs (or the needs of their dependents)
